Lydiates Cabinet Making is a contemporary furniture making workshop named after the family farm where the business was born. Focusing on simple, classic designs with meticulous attention to detail at the forefront, we are heavily inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese design techniques.
Founder of Lydiates Cabinet Making is designer-maker Richard Staples who developed his passion for woodwork and fine furniture while working alongside his Dad, a joiner of over 50 years.
While our true passion is bringing our own designs to life, much of our work is bespoke commissions for designers, retailers, architects and private individuals.
We design, make and finish our pieces in-house all within our workshops in northern Herefordshire. From large fitted cabinetry projects such as kitchens, to freestanding pieces like coffee tables or perhaps a display cabinet, the design process is always a collaboration with the client. Whether you have a clear vision or are seeking a design solution, we provide a full design service including 3D sketching, working drawings and finish samples. This ensures that the finished piece is an accurate representation of the client’s vision whilst being completely unique.
We’ve combined our experience in production and traditional cabinet making with a well-equipped workshop to allow us to offer competitive economies of scale with the same quality and attention to detail as a bespoke commissioned piece. We work closely with architects, interior designers, furniture designers and retailers to produce pieces in small to medium batches, offering a unique opportunity for batch production here in the UK.
