My name is David and I am an experienced carpenter, joiner, furniture designer and maker. Everything I sell is built with my own hands in my beautiful timber frame workshop tucked in the woods here in Hampshire. The workshop was built using a lot of timber from the surrounding woodland, where the trees are felled due to disease, or fall in storms. I have a deep love of nature and of trees and believe that responsibly managed forests are a key component to environmental sustainability, therefore I only use wood from these verified sources, or wood which I have collected and milled myself.
My design philosophy is to use traditional techniques to create unique and contemporary designs, celebrating craftsmanship by keeping the structural joinery on show in the finished pieces. I also engineer my pieces to last and to be far stronger than they need to be, so they can stand the test of time and have a quality of stability and robustness to them. I believe that handmade should truly mean handmade, by the hands of a craftsperson, therefore I use no computer guided machinery in my workshop, just traditional woodworking machinery and hand tools.
