Founded in 2017, my mission is to create furniture with our clients that will delight generations. Made new, to be old.
At JBF the focus is on making freestanding bespoke commissioned work in domestically grown timbers. This is where my love of the material can really come to the fore, specifically sourcing and selecting every piece of timber to make beautiful coherent work.
Our approach is rarely a “no”, more a “yes, if…” By partnering with designers and customers, who are looking for quality, longevity, and excellence. I will leave no stone unturned in realizing your vision.
A chameleon of craft who delights in fitting my fascination with wood to your future furniture. My work should be a reflection of you, made uniquely by me.
Each piece is totally unique, often bearing the marks of its maker, always brimming with enjoyment and a deep sense of pride. I see furniture making as a junction where so many associated skills converge, where artistry meets technical know-how, and complex, tactile forms are brought to life from an often unyielding and ever shifting natural material.
At JBF we seek out the best solution to the project. We strive to never be hemmed in by accepted wisdom of furniture making. Instead, using our technical expertise, grounded in traditional principles of woodworking, we open up paths of experimentation and exploration all in the pursuit of better solutions and better furniture.
From learning under the watchful eye of a talented hobbyist father, to being formally trained at the Building Crafts College in London, I’ve gone on to work with countless designers, architects and private clients. My work travelled all over the world, has been shown at Masterpiece, Mint Gallery, Decorex, London Design Festival, The Worshipful Company of Carpenters, and has featured in magazines from House & Garden, Elle Decoration, Living etc to the industry leading and delightfully geeky Furniture & Cabinet Making Magazine.
