The ‘Seam’ Wall pieces consist of four unique works that blend my fine art training with my experience as a furniture designer and maker. Each one features a one-of-a-kind composition of various wood inlays, which are intricately cut, shaped, embedded and arranged into a recessed base of hardwood, resulting in a smooth, flush surface. I have limited myself to ten different shapes, which can be placed individually or layered to form a geometric collection of patterns that beautifully contrast with the darker inlays. Each one is framed in cherry wood, which I have ebonised. These wall pieces invite curiosity through their textures, angles, and shapes, which have been developed and inspired by The Arch chair collection and my notebooks filled with drawings from both the urban environment where I live and the natural settings where I seek escape.
