Aesculus is an abstraction of a conker, the shells of which split open into three segments. The cabinet's brown tiger oak carcass 'cracks' along the bevels recessed into the top and doors, exposing the pale flesh of the conker's internal sycamore lining.

The double doors reveal the dark brown conker within, nestling in its creamy cradle. The pale internal framework is solid sycamore, whilst the drawer fronts use solid quartersawn wenge finished in shellac to provide the deep brown sheen of the conker seed itself.

The drawers feature brass tube and wenge dowel pins and veg tanned leather bases with custom solid brass angular pulls. The sharp taper of the turned solid brass legs hints at the spikes found on the conker's protective outer shell.
