I’m Mitch, I’m a furniture designer and maker from South West London.
I make thoughtfully designed contemporary fine furniture; built to last using responsibly sourced hardwoods.
Before this I spent 17 years working in the film industry as a Prop Maker and Carpenter.
I always loved making things as a kid but it wasn’t until I started working in the industry that I discovered that woodworking was what I enjoyed the most. I learned a lot and made a huge variety of things over the years but I always had ideas of designing and making furniture.
It was also during this time that I realised that working with hardwoods was what I really loved doing.
The things I made for films were mostly built using less sustainable materials and never served any purpose once production was finished. Everything was destined for indefinite storage or landfill and the longer I did it, the more I felt like I wanted to be making things that served a purpose in the world beyond being in a film for a few minutes or sometimes even seconds.
Sustainability is important to me and wood is one of the most sustainable, and beautiful, materials we have.
One of the things I love about solid wood furniture is that when it’s well made it can last for generations.
It means a lot to me to make pieces that aren’t just functional and visually pleasing, but that will become a part of people’s homes and lives.
