Elm Slab Coffee Table

About product

A lovely little coffee table in some truly spectacular pippy Elm.

All made from a single, very special slab, chosen to the clients very exacting specification for its uncommonly rich dark tones, movement in the grain and lovely pippy, burry clusters and crucially more or less defect free. A rare combination.

We incorporated some quiet detailing in brass, and some small inoffensive butterflies. Otherwise letting this extraordinary timber take centre stage.

This was an exercise in restraint, requiring the maker to take a step back, do less and curtail the urge to over work, over embelish and generally just get in the way.

Perhaps an underrated, but seriously good exercise as a maker.
